Cool weather favorites

It’s time for pansies! Last month I brought home a few flats of pansies. I couldn’t resist. My friend Beth, who is a great gardener, told me to march right back to Lowe’s and return them. She said it wasn’t cool enough yet and that she always waits till Halloween. Well, I couldn’t wait so [...]

You better love it…

Don’t plant this unless you really love it because if kudzu had flowers this is what they would look like.

Garden fairies

Garden fairies or spun sugar candy? A pair of earrings or a beautiful serving dish for sushi? This was in my garden…isn’t nature cool?

Symmetry at its best

Bahamas treat

what a hummingbird sees
what I put in my hair
what only lasts one day
a tropical hibiscus for you from me

Bird food

At my house down here I have found that a half of an orange will bring in the birds. I haven’t tried this back home but I’d bet it would work. Pretty, though, no matter what.

Unexpected beauty

Slowly and methodically I have selected and planted my favorite treasures. Thus is the problem. I won’t pick them!  What’s up with that?  Even though I have, [...]

Hummm…

In my front lawn, off to the side of my driveway, is the vegetable garden. It began as a kitchen garden which was, if I must say, well designed my moi and because it was in the front yard, it always looked “perfect” and beautiful. It was “designed.” Just the right amount of herbs and flowers [...]

Pretty in pink

The camellias are in bloom now in charleston and this pink was just too good to not share. I love camellias because for me, they are the bridge between the last of Winter and the hope for Spring.
