The green bag
I am in the train looking on to the platform outside. I notice a Nun passing by….she is wearing brown Birkenstocks. An old man spots a cigarette that has not been smoked yet. It is by the trash can. He picks it up and puts it into his bag. He is looking everywhere for things [...]
Off to my Favorite Place
Ok whew…we made it! The key is the men who come up to the obvious tourist and look at their tickets and help you get to the right car, grab your heavy bags and get them all neatly tucked in. Then…the hand, palm up. Worth every dime…. This train takes two hours and we stop [...]
Fields of gold
We are now an hour into the trip. We have left the concrete jungle of Napoli. It seemed to me that they had still not recovered from the trash strike a few years ago. Traveling on the train, we go from tunnel to tunnel. You notice this especially when the train is not air conditioned….tunnels [...]
Napoli Station
So we have made it on the train and we are off to Rome. In Rome we have a 20 minute chance to catch our next train toward Umbria. Should prove interesting since I am traveling with my family and we look like the Griswald family….. so much luggage! We had been told that the [...]
Off in search of Umbria
The train is moving. We have had a scare with the train tickets, mass of bags and now I must go check to be sure all our bags are still there! Roll um roll um roll um keep them doggies roll en!!!!! We’re off to Umbria!
Goats Crossing
We had a much better ride back across the mountain this time, and even saw something special. We all saw a golden retriever type dog and everyone felt badly for him….”ahhh look at the lost dog way up here!” Then from around the corner came a HERD of GOATS and a Shepherd with a cane [...]
Purple Everywhere
The gardening on the mountain sides in Amalfi is insane! There are rows and rows of lemon trees espaliered on trellises. The color choice of bougainvillea is purple….my favorite color! Everyone has their own house garden and the little road side restaurants as well as the hotels here grow much of their own food. I remember my [...]
Leaving Italy
We are leaving today and I am sad. The sea is beautiful. The swimming here is amazing. Blue water, no sharks, perfect temperature and so many flowers! I have been soaking up the colors here. The blue of the sea, the yellow lemons and bright pink bougainvillea. What a paint wheel God has. He is [...]
Church Bells Ringing
Birds are singing. There are Church bells ringing in the distance and I am tucked away on a porch looking over the sea. I saw God today in everything. I listened to Him in the beauty, the colors, and the laughter of the fisherman down by the sea.
I whisper to you…..I am happy
Pink Shirt and Straw Hat
White umbrellas. Orange chairs. Pirate waiter. A Cute little boy with his girlfriend picked us up and took us from our boat to my favorite restaurant in Amalfi. He wore a pink checked shirt and so did she. Straw cowboy hat like someone I know….maybe it was him, a long, long, time ago.
